Wis. court weighs Indian gaming challenge

FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2003

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is considering whether it should take an Indian gaming case or refer it to the lower courts.

Republicans are challenging Gov. Jim Doyle (D), who recently signed amended casino compacts with several tribes. They contend the expansion on gaming violates the state constitution.

Doyle tried to get a federal court to hear the case but it was sent back to the state.
