Shareholders of Cook Inlet Region Inc., an Alaska Native regional corporation, voted last Saturday for each to receive an average of $10,000 in special dividends.

The vote is only advisory but came over the objections of the corporation's leadership. Shareholders want to tap a $63 million fund.

CIRI is the second-largest Alaska Native corporation in terms of revenue.
