The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals issued two rulings this week affecting the Skokomish Tribe of Washington. Both were 2-1 decisions.

On Tuesday, the court upheld dismissal of the tribe's $6 billion claim against the city of Tacoma. The tribe said its treaty rights were violated by the construction of two dams.

On Wednesday, the court invalidated the city of Tacoma's 1921 condemnation proceedings of land owned by the tribe along the Skokomish River. The tribe could sue for damages.
