The Bureau of Indian Affairs' only office in New York is shutting down, The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.

The Syracuse office serves several tribes in the state but has been without a field representative since March, when Dean White retired. When program assistant Jody Lewis retires at the end of this month, the office will be closed "indefinitely," the paper said.
