The Wisconsin Legislature's Joint Finance Committee voted Monday to cut funds from Indian education programs and use them for other tribal-related projects.

Of the $5.5 million reallocated, $50,000 a year was cut from a program at Beloit College that teaches about Indian culture. A yearly $260,000 appropriation for Indian language and cultural classes was also reallocated.

Democrats on the panel voted against the changes. The source of the funds is tribal gaming revenues.
