Ore. tribal members shielded from Medicaid cuts

Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski signed into law a bill that creates separate Medicaid standards for Native Americans.

The bill protects tribal members from cuts to the Medicaid program that are affecting non-Indians. A reported 2,800 American Indians will be able to receive treaty-reserved health benefits.
