An economic development study on the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation will help the tribe and the state of South Dakota, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader says in an editorial.

The tribe is using a $180,000 state loan, matched with a federal grant, to study the construction of a beef-processing plant. The paper says the partnership will have benefits beyond the reservation.

"Yes, it would benefit the tribe directly, and it's no secret there's high unemployment on South Dakota reservations. The help is needed," the paper says. "But the state as a whole also would benefit - from the exposure and from the additional income tribal members would have."
