Cherokee group in La. seeks state recognition

WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2003 The Boeuf River Band of Cherokees is seeking recognition from the state of Louisiana. State Sen. Noble Ellington has introduced a resolution to recognize the Cherokees. He said the band, apparently a family, isn't interested in a casino. Get the Story:
