A judge in Washington is being reviewed by a state panel on charges he treated Native American and Hispanic defendants differently in his courtroom.

According to charges filed with the state Judicial Conduct Commission, Yakima County, Judge Ramon Reid made fun of Native American names. When defendant Myron Plenty Hoops was in court, Reid asked "Is that basketball?" and "Did you make plenty hoops?"

Questioning Salena Yallup and her name and her son's name, Jeremy Yallup-Half, Reid said: "I'm curious how people get these, cause I had Spearchief. Now what, some place or others, the guy had, his ancestors had speared a chief, is that where they get it."
