Senate judiciary panel approves Bush nominees

FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2003 The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to approve three of President Bush's nominees, including a Department of Justice lawyer who has been sanctioned for his handling of the Indian trust fund case. Scott McCallum's nomination for the number three post at the department was advanced to the Senate floor. There appeared to be little controversy over the position. U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth has imposed personal fines on McCallum and other Justice attorneys, calling their handling of the case "obstructionist." Get the Story:
