Tohono O'odham in Mexico ask for election delay

THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2003 Members of the Tohono O'odham Nation who live in Mexico filed suit in tribal court to delay the tribe's upcoming election. The members, about 500, don't live in the 11 "districts" that are part of the Arizona side of the nation so they can't vote in the upcoming election. They say there hasn't been an effort to register them. The election, for chairman, is scheduled for May 24. Get the Story:
