S.D. lawyers start Indian legal service project

The Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of South Dakota has received a $700 grant to start an Indian legal services project.

The project will look at ways to encourages more Indians to attend law school. The state bar estimates that fewer than 5 percent of lawyers in South Dakota are Indian.

The project will also provide help Native Americans with legal services.
