Imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier has filed a libel lawsuit against Paul DeMain, editor and publisher of News From Indian Country.

Peltier alleges DeMain made false statements but publishing that Peltier is linked to the death of Anna Mae Pictou-Aquash. DeMain wrote that Pictou-Aquash knew Peltier was guilty of murdering two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in the summer of 1975.

Aquash was found dead on the Pine Ridge Reservation in February 1976.
