Leaders of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana are calling for a revamp of the tribal constitution to incorporate separation of powers.

The change is needed to get rid of corruption in tribal government, leaders said. Tribal members complain that council members exert pressure over the courts and law enforcement.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs recently took over the tribe's law enforcement department.
