The Billy Mills Running Strong for American Indian Youth Scholarship Fund has been created at Kansas University for Indian students who want to become teachers.

The $25,000 endowment comes from Running Strong for American Indian Youth, an organization headed by Mills, a KU graduate and Haskell Indian Nations University alumnus. Mills, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, won the gold medal for the 10,000-meter run at the 1964 Olympics.
