Wash. high school replaces Indians nickname

Students at West Seattle High School in Washington have chosen a new mascot to replace the "Indians" nickname that was dropped last September.

The Seattle Public Schools district has a policy that bans the use of Indian mascots. It apparently extended to a recent "Village People" skit performed by teachers at West Seattle. Missing from the performance was the stereotypical Indian, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
