Every Native community should have its own radio station, the station manager for KIDE Hoopa Valley Radio in northern California says.

KIDE serves the Hoopa Valley Reservation. It was started in 1978 by manager Joseph Orozco and other reservation residents. Offering a variety of cultural, news and other programs, it is now funded by the tribe although the first couple of years were an all-volunteer effort.

KIDE is looking branch out and serve the neighboring Karuk and Yurok tribes.
