The U.S. Forest Service on Tuesday rescinded a permit to allow a telescope project near a sweat lodge in the Coronado National Forest.

To All Our Relations, the Tohono O'odham Nation, the Sky Island Alliance and the Center for Biological Diversity filed appeals against the permit. A regional forest official agreed that it would harm the visual qualities in the forest.

A consortium of 10 institutions asked to place seven telescopes on 10 acres. They would come within 1,000 feet from the sweat lodge, run by To All Our Relations.
