Trial for death of Native RCMP officer continues

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2003 A court in Manitoba, Canada, heard the second day of testimony in a trial for the murder a Native RCMP officer. Dennis Strongquill was shot after a routine traffic stop in December 2001. Police caught up with three suspects and ended up killing one, the court was told yesterday. Strongquill was a member of the all-Native RCMP detachment on the Wawayseecappo First Nation in Manitoba. Including Strongquill, three Aboriginal RCMP officers have died in the line of fire.
