Obituary: Charles Deegan Indian health advocate

TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2003 Charles Deegan Jr., a co-founder of the American Indian Movement who was also an advocate for Indian health care, died on Saturday. He was 67. Deegan, who grew up on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota, pushed for urban Indian health care services. He founded the American Indian Health Care Association in 1973 and was often consulted for his expertise. Get the Story:
