Ala. university reveals major theft of artifacts

TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2003 More than 250 pottery vessels dating back some 800 years were stolen in 1980, the University of Alabama said. School officials are only now publicizing the major theft in hopes of recovering the lost items. The value of the objects, in today's dollars, is estimated at $2.3 million. The artifacts were taken from an Indian site in Alabama. Get the Story:
