The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have not reopened a probe into the death of an Aboriginal man, Saskatchewan's justice minister said on Wednesday.

Minister Eric Cline said he misspoke about Lawrence Wegner's case. He does not consider it closed -- although his predecessor said the investigation was over. Cline says the probe is "ongoing."

Wegner's family believes police in Saskatoon were involved in the death. A CBC News investigation turned up new evidence that Cline says should be examined.
