WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2003

The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho will hold a ceremony in Vancouver, Washington, on Saturday to commemorate Chief Redheart's band.

Chief Redheart and his band were rounded up by the Army and imprisoned in Vancouver. They had refused to leave their traditional homelands and settle on a reservation.

Redheart's band was imprisoned at the Vancouver Barracks for a little over a year. Saturday's ceremony will mark their anniversary of their release in 1878.
