The Senate's only American Indian is ready to run for re-election in 2004, The Denver Post reports.

Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) has raised $400,000 so far for his campaign. A spokesperson said the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee is "enthusiastic" about the upcoming race.

Some have speculated that Campbell, an Olympic athlete, is instead eyeing the top job at the U.S. Olympic Committee.
