Wash. man honored for improving Indian Country housing

TUESDAY, APRIL 15, 2003 Robert Young of Washington is one of three finalists for the 2003 Volvo for Life Awards. He is being recognized for helping improve housing conditions in Indian Country. Young started the Red Feather Development Group after visiting the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. The non-profit organization has helped build homes on several reservations and installed wheelchair ramps for elderly members of the Muckleshoot Tribe of Washington. Young appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show last year and was given $20,000 in equipment to continue his work. Get the Story:
