Mashantucket Tribe seeks to clarify message

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2003 Mashantucket Pequot tribal leaders are considering moving the tribe's offices to their museum, The New London Day reports. According to a letter chairman Michael J. Thomas sent to tribal members, the move would help in two ways. One, to justify the costly museum, and two, to control the tribe's "message." The museum cost $194.9 million, according to the letter, and the tribe pays $11 million in interest a year on it. Another Pequot official said the museum is operating at a deficit. Get the Story:
