A South Dakota woman was indicted in state court on eight charges of alleged voter fraud among American Indians.

Rebecca Red Earth-Villeda, a member of the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe, turned herself in to authorities yesterday. She is alleged to have submitted fraudulent absentee-ballot applications for last year's closely watched federal election.

Red Earth-Villeda was first charged with 19 counts of forgery. The state attorney general had to dismiss those when subpoenas on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation were held up.
