THURSDAY, MARCH 27, 2003

Two Minnesota tribes rallied in support of a bill that would allow them to open a casino in the Twin Cities area.

The Red Lake and White Earth Ojibwe bands are in remote locations in the state. They have not benefited from the gaming boom as other tribes.

Under the proposal, the tribes would get 50 percent of the revenues, the state would get 40 percent and the rest would go to urban Indian and other programs.

The 11 member tribes of the Minnesota Indian Gaming Association oppose the proposal.
