Court: Tribe owes school district for education

FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2003 A state court in South Carolina has ruled that the Catawba Nation owes a local district $900,000 for the education of Indian children. The fees are reportedly authorized by the tribe's settlement act, which restored the tribe's federal status. The tribe expects to appeal. Get the Story:
