Rival groups in Md. claim Piscataway name

THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2003 Two groups claiming to be descendants of the historic Piscataway Tribe testified at a state recognition hearing on Wednesday. The Piscataway Conoy Confederacy and Subtribes has asked to be acknowledged by the state. The rival Piscataway Indian Nation says the group only wants to open a casino. Gov. Bob Ehrlich has been given a confidential recommendation on the Piscataway Conoy Confederacy and Subtribes. Get the Story:
