WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2003 Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado) is interested in heading the U.S. Olympic Committee, Al Kamen of The Washington Post reports. Campbell's spokesperson says the lone American Indian in the Senate has all but declared his run for a third Senate term. But In the Loop finds it fishy that Campbell, a former Olympic athlete, has called for major reforms at the troubled committee. Plus the top post is open, vacated by the resignation of LLoyd Ware. And it pays $550,000 while the senator job pays just $165,000. Campbell is currently chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. Due to Senate rules, he will have to step down from that post soon. Get the Story:
