FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2003

A rally will be held in Gardiner, Montana, on Saturday to protest the continued slaughter of bison in Yellowstone National Park.

Nearly 250 animals were killed last week alone pursuant to a state-federal management plan that allows the state of Montana to shoot them. Cattle owners fear the bison will transmit a deadly disease that can cause calves to abort.
