School officials on Ariz. reservation ousted

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 2003 Voters on the Tohono O'odham Reservation in Arizona participated in a recall election for the school board on Tuesday. Two of three board members were apparently ousted, according to preliminary results reported by The Arizona Daily Star. All five members were targeted for alleged financial irresponsibility and for allegedly being unresponsive to teachers. The Indian Oasis-Baboquivari Unified School District serves about 1,100 students on the reservation, according to the paper. Get the Story:
