S.D. law would authorize use of reservation jails

South Dakota lawmakers are trying to hammer out a bill that would allow counties to place inmates in Indian Country jails.

The bill passed the House and Senate but with a key difference. Lawmakers are debating whether tribes who want to house county inmates need Bureau of Indian Affairs approval.
