WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2003

Montana's attorney general is fighting a law that requires new political districts to be drawn in the state.

Republicans passed the law because they said seven Indian-majority districts drawn up by a state commission were too favorable to Democrats. The commission was headed by a member of the Crow Tribe.

Currently, seven Native Americans serve in the Legislature.
