Mont. redistricting law called unconstitutional

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2003 Montana's attorney general is fighting a law that requires new political districts to be drawn in the state. Republicans passed the law because they said seven Indian-majority districts drawn up by a state commission were too favorable to Democrats. The commission was headed by a member of the Crow Tribe. Currently, seven Native Americans serve in the Legislature. Get the Story:
