Man wants to post sacred images on web site

TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2003 A New Jersey art dealer wants to post paintings that depict images sacred to a New Mexico tribe on an art web site. Fred Ross, chairman of The Art Renewal Center, said he bought the paintings with the hopes of making them public. He said the University of New Mexico and Acoma Pueblo were wrong to "censor" them. The paintings were designed by New Mexico artist Tom Baker for display in a new UNM building. The tribe objected to the content so the school decided on other images. Get the Story:
