The Blackfeet Nation of Montana has agreed to full Bureau of Indian Affairs authority over law enforcement on the reservation, The Great Falls Tribune reports.

The tribe was threatening court action over the BIA takeover of the tribe's police force. A BIA agent said the two sides have settled the dispute.

The BIA will maintain a 34-person police force, which is temporarily staffed by BIA employees. The BIA expects to make permanent hires.
