Wis. tribe's first police chief retires

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2003

The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin held a farewell party on Wednesday for its first and only police chief.

James Danforth, a tribal member, helped start the tribe's police force more than 20 years ago. He worked to have the police department recognized by other governments.
