FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2003

February 16 is Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, named in honor of an Alaska Native woman who challenged others to accept Alaska Natives as equals.

Alaska Natives in Anchorage are marking the occasion with special events this weekend. The city will also dedicate a park in the name of Peratrovich and her husband Roy, a leader of the Alaska Native Brotherhood.
