Chicago's Indian community undergoing change

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2003 Single and mixed-race American Indians number more than 20,000 in Chicago and more than 44,000 in the metro region, The Chicago Tribune reports. But many lower-income Natives are moving out of the neighborhood considered the heart of the urban Indian community. Regentrification is cited as the major reason for the dispersal.
