Wash. tribes have allies in gaming fight

A coalition of five former Washington state governors is helping lead a fight against expanded gaming.

Citizens Against Gambling Expansion says it would fight legislative proposals to authorize slot machines even if tribes weren't involved. The 17 tribes in the state have formed their own group, the Washington Coalition for Tribal Self-Reliance, in hopes of countering the restaurant, bar, bowling alley mini-casino and bingo-hall industry's attempt to open up gaming to non-Indians.
