Montana's Indian lawmakers, all seven of whom are Democrats, say they are disappointed that Governor Judy Martz (R) has not followed up on pledges to help Indians in the state.

The lawmaker criticize Martz for failing to consult, for cutting funds to Indian programs, for trying to transfer Indian funds without their knowledge and for not supporting bills aimed at improving Indian education. Martz says she stands behind her goal of improving economic development.
