FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2003

Montana attorney general Mike McGrath said a bill that nixes a redistricting plan with seven Indian-majority voting districts is unconstitutional.

Republican lawmakers oppose the plan, which was drawn up by a commission headed by a member of the Crow Tribe. They said it favors Democrats.

There are seven Native Americans serving in the Legislature.
