Mont. Indian district plan targeted by GOPs

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2003 Montana Republicans moved forward a bill to kill a redistricting plan that creates seven Indian-majority voting districts. The plan was drawn up by a state commission that is chaired by a member of the Crow Tribe who is also a Democrat. It creates three senate and three house districts that have a majority Indian population. The Montana Legislature has a record seven Indian lawmakers. Get the Story:
