Editorial: Reform recognition process

The Norwich Bulletin in an editorial today backs efforts to change the way the Bureau of Indian Affairs handles federal recognition petitions.

The paper says a "formal process" is needed "to prevent whimsical decisions." It suggests that recognition of three Connecticut tribes lacks logic.

Connecticut's Congressional delegation plan to introduce bills to codify BIA regulations into law.
