WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2003 "Mr. Sterling," a new NBC drama debuting this week, features an Indian lawmaker named Thunder Hawk Jackson. According to Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times, Jackson is "a proud, noble American Indian senator from Arizona." In one episode, he convinces Josh Brolin, the lead character, to co-sponsor legislation in support of tribal sovereignty but the bill turns out to be "dangerous" in some respects. In another episode, Jackson "is painted as neither victim nor villain, but as a flawed but well-intended politician who nimbly plays the Washington guilt game." The Times does not report who plays Jackson or who is modeled after. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, a Republican from Colorado, is the only Indian in the Senate. "Mr. Sterling" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. Get the Story:
