Wash. tribe pays to move tribal members

TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2003 The Stillaguamish Tribe of Washington has spent nearly $5 million to relocate 27 families from a village being torn down to build a casino, The Everett Herald reports. The tribe bought 19 homes worth up to $215,000 for some families. Eight other families chose to accept a buyout of up to $90,000. Get the Story:
