The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People "squanders its moral authority" by siding with a Connecticut tribe, The New London Day writes in an editorial today.

The state NAACP chapter is supporting the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe's casino bid and says it will fight an attempt to repeal a state law that paved the way for Indian gaming. The paper calls this a "nonsensical position."

"Aiding gambling interests in the name of fighting racial discrimination trivializes the fight against discrimination and is beneath the dignity of the NAACP," the paper writes.
