THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2002

The Bureau of Indian Affairs may decide as early as today on the federal recognition of the Golden Hill Paugussett Tribe, The Connecticut Post reported.

The tribe has been denied status three times during the Clinton administration. A reconsideration was ordered in 1999.

The official due date for the decision has been cited as early January. The New London Day says it will be announced by January 19.
