Alaska Native corp. receives trust fund

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2002 An Alaska Native regional corporation will receive a $30 million trust fund as part of an agreement with the federal government. Koniag Inc. agreed to a 10-year conservation easement on land it owns along the Karluk River. The deal will allow limited public access to fishermen. The agreement also gives the corporation access to the $30 million trust fund. The corporation will receive interest on the money for the duration of the 10-year term. If Koniag agrees to sell the land, it will receive the entire fund. Get the Story:
